Rare Pink Sakura Ishi – Sakura Tenmangu Cordierite Collector Stone

An exceptionally rare pink Sakura Ishi (“Cherry Blossom Stone”) originating from the famous Sakura Tenmangu occurrence in Japan, one of the most culturally revered and historically respected Sakura Stone localities ever discovered.

This specimen was given to me many years ago as a personal gift from a Japanese former mining worker and collector who understood my appreciation for unusual and historically significant mineral forms. He preserved a small number of these pieces privately after the locality had already become extremely difficult to obtain. Since then, material of this quality and coloration has become virtually unheard of on the market.

Unlike the more common pale, grey, or whitish Sakura stones, this specimen displays a rich and saturated cherry-blossom pink coloration with exceptional visual character. The natural six-petal formation is remarkably balanced and clearly defined, giving the stone an almost symbolic floral geometry rarely encountered even among serious Sakura Ishi collectors.

The stone is composed of cordierite-derived material and shows a subtle vitreous shimmer across the surface under direct light, enhancing the natural blossom structure. The reverse side remains naturally flat, allowing the flower-like morphology to present beautifully from the display face.
